Eat To Manage Pain And Inflammation
Pain And Inflammation
Check your diet carefully because it’s usually what you ingest and what you eat that is the source of what ails you. Did you know that there’s food that you can eat to help bring relief to your pain, rather than contribute to it? This is all about managing your eating habits, in order to take care of your health issues. Remember that saying ‘you are what you eat’?
This is a serious first world phenomena happening now – the average daily diet contains food processed with chemicals that aggravate the insides of our bodies. This aggravation has its sources from processed food, fast food, junk food, instant noodles, convenience food, pesticides/chemicals present in the growth of grains like GMO, additives and many more. This type of daily diet worsens and brings on internal inflammation. You need to stop eating these unhealthy meals and be more mindful of what you eat.
Food To Combat Pain And Inflammation
We suggest that you start detoxing your body for at least 2 months, to wean your body and your digestive system from the stuff that harms you internally and brings on pain caused by inflammation. Get rid of them! Start eating these 4 foods that will help you make a difference in your life, to manage your constant battle with pain and inflammation:
Red Cherries – Red cherries contains a compound known as anthocyanins – this is a power packed antioxidant that blocks inflammation and relieves pain akin to taking a painkiller or a Panadol.
Spicy Hot Peppers – A substance called capsaicin, is a trigger for the release of endorphins in our bodies and is found in chili peppers and hot peppers. Spicy hot peppers wake up the body’s opiate receptor and thus, have an analgesic effect. Cayenne pepper is great to take, in your food or in your drink. A hot cup of organic cacao with a dash of cayenne & organic coconut sugar, taken on a daily basis, can help to keep your pain at bay.
Raw Garlic – With anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties, garlic is the multi-purpose all-around food that’s also useful to add to any meal to make them taste delicious. This is quite the switch, from being known as a cause for bad breath and as a ingredient to ward off vampires! Use freshly chopped garlic and spread over salads or any dish and reap the benefits.
Ginger – Gingerol is the active ingredient in fresh ginger root – anti-inflammatory and a host of antioxidants. Ginger tea is a centuries old infusion that helps to decrease bloating and keeps your digestive tract moving. An added bonus is that ginger is also good for coughs and sore throats. Grate a thumb sized piece of ginger and steep it in a pot of freshly boiled water. You can also cut a piece of ginger the size of a hard candy and suck it in your mouth. This takes care of any pain and also helps to relieve the beginnings of a sore throat. If you find the taste extreme, temper it with wild honey.
Turmeric – (Curcuma longa) is a root that is part of the ginger family. The fastest and easiest way to ingest turmeric is to make a tea by grating a finger sized root. Drink this daily, in the morning or before retiring and observe the benefits of the active ingredient, curcurmin. Add wild honey to taste and pour into a glass of ice for a nice, cool drink on a hot day.
